Friends to host ‘BruceFest’ in memory of their late pal

-

Generous friends of the late Bruce Rumbold (45), who passed away suddenly last month, are hosting a benefit night to help raise money for his family.

Bruce, from Woodbrook, was father to young Matthew and husband to Harriet, and passed away from natural causes on Sunday, October 8.

‘BruceFest’ takes place on Saturday, December 2, at 8 p.m., in Christy’s Bar, Arklow, and will see his best friend, Paul Hayes, take the plunge and shave his head, which he has not cut in over 14 years.

The response so far has been phenomenal, as Paul’s GoFundMe page – www.gofundme. com/zyeg jt-hair-today-gone-tomorrow – is only a couple of hundred off the €3,000 target.

Local businesses have donated great raffle prizes, such as televisions, an iPad Air, a signed Ireland jersey from the soccer team and art from local artists.

Bruce’s good friend Neil Harris, one of the organisers, said people can donate or buy tickets through Arklow Computer Solutions, Beat That Records and Kavanagh’s in Arklow if they do not want to do it online.

‘The night promises to be full of fun, just the way Bruce lived his short life,’ said Neil.

Several bands and DJs, including Dead Label, Warpath and DJ Eyeball Fenboi, will provide entertainment.

Tickets are €10 and includes food, and automatic entry into a draw to be in with a chance of winning two tickets to see Manchester Until play in Old Trafford.
