Wicklow Parish is hosting a charity fashion show in Fishers of Newtownmou­ntkennedy tomorrow (Thursday, November 16).

The latest fashion trends and tips for 2018 will be shared, along with a glass of wine and finger food. Guests can enjoy a discount on all purchases as well as the expertise of the Fishers personal shoppers.

Doors open at 7.30 p.m. with tickets (€20) available on entry. The fashion show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets will be sold during the intermissi­on for the raffle which will take place afterwards.

Due to the above event there will be no fun tennis, enjoy tennis with the Blue Dolphins or Sunday matchplay this weekend.

The ever-popular annual Cullen Butcher Turkey Tournament starts next Wednesday, November 22. There is a great entry of 120 players, 10 per team, and it promises to be a great competitio­n for everyone involved. Many thanks to Maurice Kenny of Cullen Butchers for sponsoring this event.

The Associatio­n first formed back in 1974 and can currently boast over 60 members. Their objectives are to promote and further the craft of beekeeping and to conserve and promote the native dark bee.

Our President, Eleanor O’Flaherty, would like to invite all bridge players to her Charity Night on Thursday in the Grand Hotel in aid of Wicklow Mental Health.

Play begins at 7.30 p.m. sharp and the table money is €10 per player plus there will be a raffle on the night. Please support this very worthy cause.

Last week’s winners were North/ South Angela Nolan and Anthea Goodbody, second Phil Fox and Lyla Doyle, third Evelyn Cullinane and Catherine King.

East/West John Hopkins and Jacqui Devereux, second Maura Kavanagh and Joan D’Arcy, third Margaret Redmond and Mary Flynn. One of our novice pairings came fourth and they were Miriam Watchorn and Geraldine Kane.

Abbey Bridge Club

The winning pair on Monday, November 6, with a great score of 70 per cent was Pascal Doyle and Margaret Walshe.

Jacqui Devereux and John Hopkins came second, and Clare Pippet and Keith Clarke were third.
