Wick­low Par­ish is host­ing a char­ity fash­ion show in Fish­ers of New­town­moun­tkennedy to­mor­row (Thurs­day, Novem­ber 16).

The lat­est fash­ion trends and tips for 2018 will be shared, along with a glass of wine and finger food. Guests can en­joy a dis­count on all pur­chases as well as the ex­per­tise of the Fish­ers per­sonal shop­pers.

Doors open at 7.30 p.m. with tick­ets (€20) avail­able on en­try. The fash­ion show starts at 8 p.m. and tick­ets will be sold dur­ing the in­ter­mis­sion for the raf­fle which will take place after­wards.

Due to the above event there will be no fun ten­nis, en­joy ten­nis with the Blue Dol­phins or Sun­day match­play this week­end.

The ever-pop­u­lar an­nual Cullen Butcher Tur­key Tour­na­ment starts next Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 22. There is a great en­try of 120 play­ers, 10 per team, and it prom­ises to be a great com­pe­ti­tion for every­one in­volved. Many thanks to Mau­rice Kenny of Cullen Butch­ers for spon­sor­ing this event.

The As­so­ci­a­tion first formed back in 1974 and can cur­rently boast over 60 mem­bers. Their ob­jec­tives are to pro­mote and fur­ther the craft of bee­keep­ing and to con­serve and pro­mote the na­tive dark bee.

Our Pres­i­dent, Eleanor O’Fla­herty, would like to in­vite all bridge play­ers to her Char­ity Night on Thurs­day in the Grand Ho­tel in aid of Wick­low Men­tal Health.

Play be­gins at 7.30 p.m. sharp and the ta­ble money is €10 per player plus there will be a raf­fle on the night. Please sup­port this very wor­thy cause.

Last week’s win­ners were North/ South An­gela Nolan and Anthea Good­body, sec­ond Phil Fox and Lyla Doyle, third Eve­lyn Cul­li­nane and Cather­ine King.

East/West John Hop­kins and Jac­qui Dev­ereux, sec­ond Maura Ka­vanagh and Joan D’Arcy, third Mar­garet Red­mond and Mary Flynn. One of our novice pair­ings came fourth and they were Miriam Watchorn and Geral­dine Kane.

Abbey Bridge Club

The win­ning pair on Mon­day, Novem­ber 6, with a great score of 70 per cent was Pas­cal Doyle and Mar­garet Wal­she.

Jac­qui Dev­ereux and John Hop­kins came sec­ond, and Clare Pip­pet and Keith Clarke were third.
