Airport event brings boost to distillers

-

GLENDALOUGH gin was one of 26 Irish made gins that was showcased at Dublin and Cork airports recently.

The Spirit of Gin Festival, which was aimed at promoting small Irish craft gin producers such as Glendalough Gin, generated a 240 per cent increase in Irish gin sales during August and September

The festival ran in both Dublin and Cork airports and was aimed at showcasing the best of Irish gin alongside the global leaders in the industry.

The Glendalough Distillery was Ireland’s first craft distillery and was set up by five friends from Wicklow and Dublin, who were committed to reviving the heritage of craft distilling in Ireland.

Established in 2011, the team work with local forager Geraldine Kavanagh of Wild Wicklow Foods to gather the seasonal produce to make a gin for each season.

Earlier this year airport staff from The Loop joined Geraldine and the Glendalough team to forage for Summer Botanicals. Their efforts combined to create a special edition of Glendalough Gin, which is exclusively available at The Loop.
