Free Arklow parking over Christmas period

SHOPPERS in Arklow can look forward to free parking around the town as they buy local this festive season.

Following a decision by the elected members of Arklow Municipal District, free parking will apply to all areas of Arklow with the exception of Main Street, Lower Main Street, Upper Main Street and the Wexford Road, where pay and display parking will remain as normal, from Friday, December 1, until Monday, January 1.

During this period, traffic wardens will continue to monitor the traffic as normal and enforce all other aspects of the parking bye laws in relation to illegal parking.

New parking bye laws, which came into effect on August 28 this year, have led to a number of year-round changes. Motorists can now avail of free parking between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. each morning and there is a 15 minutes official grace period at all times of the day. Arklow town continues to offer free parking throughout the town on Saturdays and Sundays
