Players out in force for blitz Thirteen schools took part

-

ON a bright and sunny winter morning on November 8, thirteen schools took part in the final girls’ blitz of 2017.

Nineteen teams in total took to the Gaelic pitches of Bray Emmets.

The non-competitive nature of the games meant that everyone could enjoy trying out their new Gaelic skills.

A great morning of exciting games took place and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the morning. Here is a list of schools that took part on the day: St. Laurence’s N.S.; St Kevin’s N.S.; St Brigid’s N.S.; St. Peter’s N.S.; St. Fergal’s N.S.; Ashford N.S.; Moneystown N.S.; Kilcoole N.S.; Kilmacanoque N.S.; Newtown N.S.; Gaelscoil Uí Cheadaigh; Gaelscoil Chill Mhantáin; Scoil Chualann.

Huge thank you to Bray Emmets again for facilitating our blitzes, the pitches are always ready to go for the matches to take place as soon as schools arrive.

Here’s hoping that 2018 will be just as successful as 2017!

Coughlan Cup

There was a great turnout in the recent West Wicklow Cumann na mBunscol Allianz Coughlan Cup Competitions ran by GDA Paul Garrigan with over 20 schools taking part in the competition.

The focus of this year’s blitz was point scoring with no goalkeeper in play during the games.

After a number of really exciting games Baltinglass, Knockananna and Gaelscoil na Lochanna Blessington National Schools took home the honours.

Many thanks to Baltinglass, Hollywood and Blessington GAA grounds for the use of their facilities during the week.
