Four out of four for under-14s

WICKLOW RFC under-14s travelled to Edenderry on Saturday.

This was their fourth outing in the Leinster League Premier Division 1.

Having already secured victories over Dundalk away and Longford and Athy at home they headed to Offaly in confident mood.

It was a cold wet day with heavy conditions underfoot but the lads dealt with this and started well with two tries from James O’Donnell, one of which was converted by Tom Hodgkinson.

The forwards were controllin­g the game and James Fleming added a third try which Tom Hodgkinson also converted to leave the score 19-0 to Wicklow at half-time.

The second-half saw Edenderry come into the game more and they scored two tries, which one was converted to put some pressure on Wicklow.

But Wicklow responded with an excellent team try which was finished by Conor Hunter and Tom Hodgkinson converted.

Wicklow pushed on and scored another good try this time Scott Fitzpatric­k touched down to leave the score 31 to12 at full-time to Wicklow and four wins from four in this division.
