Wicklow woman wins €300,000 in Lotto draw

-

November 2005

A WICKLOW town woman was sitting on a fortune for almost three weeks without realising it.

The woman scooped the €300,000 top prize in the Lotto Plus 1 draw held on Saturday October 8 but never checked her numbers.

The married mother of three went into Earls Newsagents on Abbey Street in Wicklow last week to see if she had any luck with a number of Lotto tickets.

She handed over her tickets to one of the shop assistants who began to scan them through the machine.

She had checked each ticket but on the last one the message ‘contact Lotto headquarters’ came up on screen.

The ticket was for the draw on October 8 and the assistant printed out the winning numbers for that date.

An excited but hushed exchange followed as both shocked women made the discovery.

Later in the day the woman with the winning ticket sent her sister back to Earls just to make sure she wasn’t dreaming.
