MUSIC FESTIVAL

The festival started last weekend and continues on Thursday the 16th through to Sunday November at St Patrick’s (Forrester’s) Hall at Upper Green, with all choral competitio­ns taking place at Coláiste Chraobh Abhann. The festival is in its 62nd year and is one of the oldest and most renowned Music Festivals in the country.

The aim of the Kilcoole Music Festival is to provide a platform for children and adults to perform in public. The festival boasts performanc­es of a very high standard and attracts some of the most highly qualified adjudicato­rs in the country along with extremely talented competitor­s, both local and national. CHRISTMAS CHARITY SALE

On Sunday, November 26, there will be a Christmas Charity Day in the Mill Room from 12.00 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event is in aid of the Kitty Hostel in Greystones. There will be arts and crafts and bric-a-brac for sale and Santa will be there for the children to visit. There will also be tea and coffee and homemade cakes for sale.

Activities include ‘Guess the weight of Christmas Cake’ and there will be a large draw. Please come and support us. If you want to take a table please contact Sylvia at 086 1684858.

SENIOR CITIZENS

Christmas party 2017 – This year’s party takes place on Saturday, December 9, in the Mill Room of Byrne’s Pub from 4 p.m. Any person from Kilcoole born in 1947 or before is eligible to attend and any such person who does not receive an invitation and would like to attend should contact Paul Kelly at 086 6014844 with their details or give them into the bar staff in Byrne’s Pub prior to the end of November.

The existing volunteers Eithne Byrne, Eddie Nugent, Tom Quigley and Paul Kelly are stepping down from the organising of the party from this year and we would ask for some people or group to step up and take over the mantle from 2018 onwards. Please contact any of the above named outgoing volunteers.

Fundraisin­g Quiz Nights – The last of the fundraisin­g Quiz Nights for the senior citizens Christmas party takes place in the Mill Room on Friday, November 17. A table of four is €20. Please support this worthy cause.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

The centre is available for bookings (e.g. classes, meetings, birthday parties). Bookings can be made via email kilcoolecc@gmail.com or by phone 01 2872017. The office is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3.15 p.m. and is closed for lunch between 12.30 p.m and 1.15 p.m.

INDOOR BOWLS

Bowls takes place every Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. in St Patrick’s/Forrester’s Hall. New members are welcome.

PARENT/TODDLER GROUP

All are welcome to come along to the parent and toddler group at the community centre from 10.30 p.m. to midday every Wednesday. €2 per child.

BINGO

Bingo is held on Monday nights in St Patrick’s Hall at 8 p.m. Everybody is welcome.
