A magical evening

-

AVONDALE House and Forest Park made for the magical setting Sunday’s candlelight walk in aid of the Ballinacor Community Project.

The family friendly walk proved to be the perfect Sunday outing for the whole clan keen to blow off the weekend cobwebs.

Each participant was presented with a jar containing a candle as they set off on their journey through mist covered woodland, with some little surprises along the way.

The walk took place from 5,30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m..

All the proceeds form the candlelight walk go to the Ballinacor Community Project.

In 2005, the local community bought approximately 10 acres of forestry.

This had to be completely cleared and developed.

To date the project have successfully developed a full size GAA pitch, used for the most part by Ballinacor football and camogie teams. However, the pitch, measuring 140 by 90 metres, can also be used for any other sport should the need arise.

The site also includes a tennis court and a basketball/soccer court. A fully wheelchair accessible, scenic boardwalk goes around the perimeter of the community ground.

The car park consists of 62 spaces and 4 wheelchair friendly spaces.
