St Mary’s College
The group also enjoyed their first trip up to Dublin to see the hilarious stand up comic Jer Carey. His ability to get into the teenage mind made for a lot of belly laughs with some favorite characters making an appearance. All aspects of teenage life were examined, pulled to bits and treated with the humor they deserve.
In tutorial this week we had the pleasure of the Gaiety School of Acting’s own Donal Courtney in to perform his one man play ‘God has no country’. All agreed it was a fantastic performance and a moving memoir of life as an Irish priest in Rome during the war years. Donal also conducted a question and answer session afterwards which was of great interest to the students involved in the play this year.
Finally the TY’s are preparing for their first week of work experience next week and a lot of exciting opportunities lie ahead. very well.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL
Our school’s St Vincent de Paul Society has been busy since September organising events that can help raise awareness of homelessness in our country. The society is currently running a poetry competition which gives students the chance to showcase their talent while also raising awareness of an important subject.
The group is also planning a number of fundraising events within the school. A raffle will take place in the coming weeks with a range of skin care products to be won. This December the society will run a food drive giving students and teachers the chance to bring in non-perishable foods which will be handed out to families in need this Christmas.
