Students celebrate

- By MARY FOGARTY

STUDENTS FROM all over Bray, County Wicklow and further afield received their certificates and diplomas from Bray Institute of Further Education last Sunday.

The presentations were made to the students at the Holy Redeemer Church in the centre of Bray, during two sittings throughout the afternoon and evening.

Event management and security students as well as the catering department were instrumental in the organisation of the day of celebration. Hundreds of students received their awards for the efforts they had made in the college over the past years.

In each class, a special ‘student of the year’ award was given to those who had made a particularly outstanding contribution.

Awards were given out in disciplines such as music production, filmmaking, dance and art, as well as office administration, early childhood education, business and much more.

Students heard from principal Ray Tedders and vice-principal Gabriel Allen with words of encouragement on how well they had done.

CEO of the Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board Seán Ashe congratulated students and their tutors on their achievements. He said that the future of education in Ireland is based on two streams, academic and practical, on separate tracks for a number of levels, and meeting at levels nine and 10. He said that BIFE is a welcoming and lively campus and he always enjoys visiting the college.
