Annual 5K road race to shake off the turkey

THE countdown continues for the increasing­ly popular Streets of Wicklow 5K Race taking place in Wicklow town on St Stephen’s Day.

What better way to rid yourself of all your Christmas excess than take part in Burke Oil sponsored run?

The event is organised by Inbhear Dee Athletic Club and has taken place for the past ten years.

A chipped timed race, it is a superb family event with a cash prize and perpetual silver cup kindly sponsored by The Sports Room in Wicklow town for the fastest family (two kids and two adults) across the line.

There will also be cash prizes for the first five men and the first five women over the finishing line.

There will also be a €100 cash bonus on offer to any man or woman who break the course record.

For the very young there is a one mile race at 10.30 a.m., including an entry cost €3 on the line. The main race gets underway at 11 a.m..

Inbhear Dee Athletic Club has been in existence for over 35 years and have hosted and organised the Streets of Wicklow race right from the very beginning.
