Huge crowd turns out to celebrate Blessingto­n’s finest

A fantastic night was enjoyed at the Blessingto­n GAA Club’s girls presentati­on night recently in Blessingto­n Community College.

A packed hall welcomed the Brendan Martin All-Ireland Ladies cup and two of the victorious Dublin side, Olwen Carey and Emily Flanagan, with manager Mick Bohan, who gave such an inspiring and motivation­al talk and video.

There was plenty to get through on the night with the following awards being presented:

Certificat­es of Participat­ion to our under-8s for their blitzes and Kildare League; Under-10 girls for a wonderful Kildare League campaign; the under-12 White team who were ‘C’ championsh­ip runners up; the under-12 Blue team who were Division 1 and ‘A’ Championsh­ip winners; the under-14 Féile runners up; the under-14 White team who were ‘C’ winners and the Blue team who were ‘A’ runners up.

Cara Hennessy said a lovely few words about the Blessingto­n under-16 team who just fell short this year but put in an excellent season.

The individual award winners for each age category were so very well deserved:

U7 - Player of the Year - Emily Behan. Most Improved - Madison Hand. Most Dedicated - Dara Cullen.

U8 - Player of the Year - Elizabeth Hearns. Most Improved - Chloe Dempsey. Most Dedicated - Meabh Doyle.

U9 - Player of the Year - Niamh Brennan. Most Improved - Leah Richardson. Most Dedicated - Under 12 Blue Most Improved award winner Aoife Cullen, Player of the Year award winner Sadhbh Fisher, and Most Dedicated award winner Millie Barrett.

U10 - Player of the Year - Erin McMahon.Most Improved - Paige McDonald. Most Dedicated- Cria Cullen.

U12 White - Player of the Year - Emily O’Rourke. Most Improved - Aoife Kinsella. Most Dedicated Michaela Garvey.

U12 Blue - Player of the Year - Sadhbh Fisher. Most Improved - Aoife Cullen. Most Dedicated Millie Barrett.

U14 White - Player of the Year

- Alana Carroll. Most Improved - Hannah Byrne. Most Dedicated - Aoife O’Rourke.

U14 Blue - Player of the Year Kayleigh McGuire. Most Improved - Erin King. Most Dedicated - Sara Bohan.

U16 - Player of the Year - Rebecca Doran. Most Improved - Aoife Richardson. Most Dedicated - Katie Kendrick.

The newest awards were the addition of a Blue Stars Team of the Year (which will be done annually

from now on).

The trophies were kindly sponsored by Bliss Cuisine. the 2017 15 players (three from each age category) were: Freya Carroll, Grace Behan, Emma Doherty, Robyn Brennan, Ella Richardson, Orlagh Murphy, Elaine O’Dwyer, Orlaith Ní Gallacobha­ir, Anna Carlyon, Anna Vasiljeva, Niamh Cullen, Aislinn Flanagan, Moya Richardson, Meaghann Carlyon, and Sine O’Neill.
