Still time for Arklow to save league status despite disappointing form

-

Division 2B ARKLOW RFC ATHY RFC 10 28

A further try and conversion gifted by Arklow left them looking at a big deficit.

The score was now Arklow 5, points, Athy 23 points.

Still Arklow battled on and scored a very good try after a number of running penalties. The conversion was missed: Arklow 10 points, Athy 23 points.

Arklow looked for a losing bonus point. It was not to be. Instead, Arklow gave away another soft try to Athy to make the score 28 to 10 in favour of the visitors.

AArklow won their fair share of possession and plenty of ball but the execution was stilted and predictable.

Arklow are now on the second half of this league and running out of games to secure enough points to remain in this division.

Arklow do not lack ability or commitment or the will to win and they must try and salvage points from whomever their playing irrespective of reputation or league position.

Three of the tries that Arklow conceded were from Arklow’s own possession a problem that can easily be put right.

Concede fewer scores and make their game not so predictable.

A lot of small things are costing Arklow games and should be tightening up all over the field. There is still time to maintain their league status.
