Applications open for building grants

-

WICKLOW County Council is now seeking funding applications from owners of protected structures and structures within Architectural Conservation Areas (ACAs).

The Department of Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht operates two schemes that provides funding streams: the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2018, and the Structures at Risk Fund 2018.

The Built Heritage Investment Scheme assists with the repair and conservation of structures that are protected under the Planning and Development Act 2000.

In certain cases, the scheme is also available for the conservation of structures within an ACA where, in the opinion of the local authority, a need for works to enhance the character and appearance of an ACA has been demonstrated.

The Structures at Risk Fund assists with works to safeguard certain historic structures where an urgent need has been demonstrated.

Full details of each scheme, including guidelines and application forms, are available from www.wicklow.ie and can also be requested from the Wicklow County Council Planning Office.

Completed applications should to be returned by email or posted to BHIS/SRF Planning Section, Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Wicklow town. The closing date is at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
