Line-up for ICA Drama Festival is announced

THE line-up for the 63rd Wicklow ICA Drama Festival has been confirmed and includes nine different organisati­ons entering a total of 12 acts or sketches.

The festival will take place in Glenealy Village Hall from Friday, January 19, to Sunday, January 21. It is split into two sections: section A is for one act plays or single acts from a full play, while section B is for sketches.

On Friday, January 19, Delgany ICA will perform the one-act comedy ‘Whose Wedding is it anyway?’ by Margaret Bower while Camross ICA from Co Wexford will take to the stage to perform ‘A Galway Girl’, a one act comedy/drama by Geraldine Aron. Camross ICA has also entered Jimmy Keary’s one act comedy called ‘Up the Garden Path.’

Completing the Friday line-up will be the Dalkey Players with ‘Here We Are’ by Dorothy Parker.

On Saturday, January 20, Ashford ICA will be first on stage with ‘Clara’s on the Curtains’, a one act comedy by Arthur Lovegrove. Delgany Drama Society will perform the one act drama ‘The Exiles’ by Jeffrey Grenfell-Hill and Coolgreany Drama Society will enter ‘Talk to me like the rain and let me listen’ by Tennessee Williams. The final act on the night will be a sketch by Delgany Drama Society called ‘The Life and Soul’, written by Peter Robbie.

On Sunday, January 21, Square One will present the one act drama ‘Vigil’ by David Butler, while St Patrick’s Drama Society will present a sketch by Christophe­r Durang called ‘DMV Tyrant.’

Kilrush Drama Group will perform the one act drama ‘Bar and Ger’ by Geraldine Aron before the final entry of ‘Man on the Floor’, a one act comedy devised by Neil Simon and performed by St Patrick’s Drama Society.

The curtains will rise at 7.30 p.m. sharp on each night. Tickets cost €10 at the door and can also be purchased by contacting (087) 9833935.
