START YOUR OWN BUSINESS

This is an essential course for anyone thinking of starting their own business. The objective of the Start Your Own Business Programme is to assist participan­ts in assessing the viability of business ideas and in understand­ing the essential elements required to start up and run their own business. This is an evening course that runs over 10 wks delivered by experience­d trainers who run their own business. An additional benefit of this course is the peer support participan­ts will get by being in a group of likeminded individual­s. Starting on May 3, 7.10 p.m. once a week. PARISH RAFFLE RESULTS

We would like to thank everyone for making our parish raffle such a success. The parishione­r who donated the hamper and gave us the idea to have a raffle. All the local businesses who sponsored the many prizes, the two shops in the village who displayed the hamper and sold the raffle tickets, the ticket sellers and all those who bought the tickets. A huge thank you to everyone for their generosity. Results of the raffle are first prize, Wicklow Heather voucher value of €250. Winner, Michael Brennan. Second prize, Hamper, Margaret Kenny. Third Prize Glendaloug­h Hotel Voucher, Molly Merrigan Langan. 4rd Prize, Lynhams Hotel, Brian Walsh. Fifth prize, 15 Bags of fire logs, Angela Kennedy. Sixth prize, Glendaloug­h Woolen Mills, Eileen Kelly Holden. Other prizes won include prizes sponsored by McCoys Shop, Laragh.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Meet and Eat is a new pilot project that aims to target older adults who are socially isolated, living alone and in particular those who are vulnerable due to physical, mental, or cognitive impairment. Areas covered are Roundwood, Laragh, Ashford and Newtownmou­ntkennedy. Twelve volunteers are being recruited to assist with preparing nutritious meals and providing companions­hip at mealtimes once a week in the older person’s home. Training will be provided for volunteers.

FREE COMPUTER COURSE

A free five-week digital skills computer course are run throughout the year, two hours one day a week. Topics covered include online banking, apps, online government services, email, shopping online, photograph­s, podcasts, TV players, social media and much more. PILATES

Marie Noonan is a qualified Pilate’s teacher and has been teaching for the last 17 years and works full time as a movement therapist for rehabilita­tion, health and longevity. WE LOVE ART

Classes on Monday afternoons are for Primary school children. They are taught by artist and qualified art teacher Almha Roche. Classes held in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh are small, and divided by age group. In the classes we work with lots of different art and craft forms. ADULT ART

This painting class will help you to find your own artistic style in your preferred medium. It is suitable for beginners as well as more experience­d painters. DRAMA SCHOOL

Drama classes are a fantastic way of developing confidence and encouragin­g creativity and imaginatio­n. Drama modules will incorporat­e improvisat­ion, mime, script work, vocal training and acting skills. Students will also learn from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama syllabus and be afforded opportunit­ies to take graded examinatio­ns under a fully qualified teacher. Elevation holds a 100% pass rate in IBSD examinatio­ns. ELEVATION DANCE

Our Modern Dance classes focus on Jazz, Lyrical, and Commercial styles as well as ISTD syllabus work giving a well-rounded understand­ing of the Modern Theatre style. LOTTO RESULTS

CEILI DANCING

Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear and have great fun learning.

Moneystown Community Centre Cards will continue as usual on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. while our Moneystown Dance will return on Friday, March 9.

MORNING BADMINTON.

Tuesday morning badminton is back on Tuesday, January 2, from 9.30 a.m. beginners always welcome. Some rackets are available.

WALKING CLUB

The Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action every Wednesday evening meeting at 7 p.m. at the Coach House car park. Everyone welcome to walk at your own pace for approximat­ely one hour in and around Roundwood village.
