GAA CLUB NOTES

It is with sadness that we pass on our condolence­s to Declan Finn and his family on the passing of his father Peter.

As part of the healthy club initiative a six-week fitness program starts in the hall On Friday, January 12. This course caters for all levels of fitness so anyone interested please contact Brian Moran.

Lotto – Results for January 2. No winners. Numbers drawn were 5, 7, 8 and 27 Draw held in Saltee on Monday nights.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Happy New Year to everyone Community Games will be up and running now for 2018. Our athletics training is back Monday, January 15, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. with membership now due for adults and children in Athletics Ireland.

Our other events art and Handwritin­g will be circulated shortly as our First National Festival weekend is in May. County finals for Swimming gymnastics and quiz will take place in March. Talent and art in April. Team Event’s final will be played by end of February. More informatio­n to follow. Any enquiries please contact Fiona Shannon at 087 2218366.

TINAHELY WHIST

There will be a whist drive in Tinahely parochial hall on Thursday night, January 11, starting at 8.30 p.m.

WHIST DRIVE

The first whist drive for the new year will be on in Annacurra Community Hall on Saturday night next January 13 starting at 9 p.m.

45 CARD GAME

45 card game will be on Friday night next January 12 starting at 8.30 p.m., in the Saltee.

Items to be included in Annacurra notes can be emailed to annacurra@gmail.com or phoned to 083 3136925 by 9 p.m. on Sunday evening. on January 10 where the jackpot will be €2,000.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

We wish all our members a very happy and peaceful new year. Membership fees are now due. Please put your membership fee €15 in an envelope with your name and give to any committee member by January 31. Also committee members will be in the community hall on Fridays at 2 p.m. and after Mass on Sundays to collect fees.

Next tea dance is on Mother’s Day March 11, with music by the Wicklow Man.

Congratula­tions to Erica Kennedy, Ballisland and Ciaran O’Neill, Laois on their marriage.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Tom Molloy, Grange, Co Carlow and formely of New Line, Carnew, who died recently.

Help is needed to carry on with Community Games initiative­s such as draughts, badminton under-15, athletics and art. If any parent is willing to help out, please contact James Tomkins at 087 7606059 or Bridget Kenny at 087 4132843. Draughts is on every Monday night 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Askamore Community Hall.
