Family seek help to find beloved missing Sally

- By MYLES BUCHANAN

A LOCAL family is appealing for the public’s help in locating their beloved Jack Russell which went missing on St Stephen’s Day.

Ten-year-old ‘Sally’ has been reared by the Finnerty family, who live near Barndarrig, since she was a pup and has never gone missing before. Sally was last seen on St Stephen’s Day barking up at something in a tree on the Finnerty’s property and disappeared sometime between 11.30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Despite the best efforts of her owners and their friends, Sally still hasn’t been found or returned home of her own accord.

However, Ross Finnerty remains convinced that Sally is still alive.

‘Sally is like my third child. We have done everything we could think of to try and track her down. I even joined Facebook so we could share the fact Sally is missing. She has never disappeared like this before. We have stuck up posters in the Murrough and Brittas Bay and placed her on a number of lost and found pet Facebook pages.

‘We have travelled every road and backroad in the area to try and trace her. We have gone to the vets to see if she was dropped in by someone. We also went to Sharpeshill to see if she had been left there, but so far there has been nothing.’

‘We were told of a sighting of a dog that matched Sally’s description at Marlton Grove on December 29 but we didn’t find her. We have been to every estate we could find, to no avail.

‘She is a treasured family pet and she is greatly missed.’

Sally is chipped and registered to the Finnerty family and has also been spayed. Ross is still hopeful that Sally will be returned to the family.

‘We are all worried and really miss her. I still have hope but I need someone to bring her to the vets, the gardaí or Sharpeshill. If that person doesn’t want to be identified, that’s fine. They can just drop her off. All we want is Sally back.’

If anyone has any information regarding Sally’s whereabouts, they can contact Ross on (086) 8171300.
