EQUESTRIAN
On Sunday, January 7, second Yr student Jazmine Arthur represented EGS as an individual in Broadmeadows Equestrian Centre, Co. Meath.
It proved to be a rewarding day out for Jazmine and her pony Cara Cave Boy with them winning the individual competition. She joins up with the team again this Sunday in Kilossery in County Dublin to compete in the next round of the TRI Equestrian League. Best of luck.
EGS CAREERS
Before Christmas Senior students enjoyed two very interesting career presentations from Larry Donnelly, Lecturer and Director of Clinical Legal Education in NUI Galway and past pupil Niamh McGettigan who spoke about her role as a Dietician.
Last week Sarah O’Mahoney from Shannon College of Hotel Management gave a careers talk to senior students about the excellent opportunities for international travel and 100% employment rate in the profession.

The Support Dep/ASD Unit are hosting a table quiz in the school on the evening of Thursday, January 18, at 7 p.m. All welcome to attend.
TRANSITION YEAR NEWS
So 2018 starts at its usual frenetic pace here in EGS with our TY’s already looking forward to their first theatre trip out to see ‘Spamalot’ in the board Gais theatre. The night is always a highlight of the year with the TY’s already planning their wardrobes. Also under way are intensive rehearsals for the play with our budding actors. A game of tiaras is taking shape nicely as the set continues to climb skywards.
Elsewhere we had the pleasure of welcoming Lynne Murphy into the tutorial to talk to the students about various issues surrounding drugs and alcohol with some really good discussion coming out of the small groups.
Finally Our TY’s are finalising their next stint of work experience coming up in the first week of February, as ever this promises to be a very rewarding week full of valuable experiences and as ever it isn’t possible without the wider communities help in facilitating the students. If you think you might be able to place one of our students please drop an email in to ty@egs.ie
