Our local Kilmac Drama Group are participat­ing in the Bray One Act Festival which will take place in the Mermaid on Tuesday, January 23. The play is ‘Fionn and the Scottish Giant’, a funny take on the legend.

Tickets are priced at €16 or €13 concession. A 10% discount is available if booking 4/5 nights and can be purchased by contacting the Mermaid at 01 2724030. The Curtain goes up at 7.30 p.m. every night and the festival runs from January 23 to January 27.

By all accounts, the cast are working really hard to put on a good performanc­e on the nights and we wish them well.

HISTORY SOCIETY

Following on from a very successful January Lecture, the members of the Kilmacanog­ue History Society are eagerly looking forward to the February lecture of the Spring Series. Titled ‘The History of Dublin Zoo from Victorian to the Present Time’, it will be presented by Gerry Creighton. This talk will take place on Tuesday, February 6, at 8 p.m. with admission just €4 (€3 for members) and as always, everyone is welcome to attend this ever growing and popular History Society.

Roundwood Variety Group present a new and exciting PANTO that takes on one of the most magical and beloved of all fairy stories, cartoons and now a new movie Beauty and the Beast. The beautiful Belle follows her dreams and adventures into a magical new world in which lives the Beast, who must learn to love to break a spell that is upon him. A show for all the family in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh.
