Save the date – The parish will be running a table quiz after Mass on Saturday, February 17, in the Saltee.

GAA LOTTO

results for January 15: no jackpot winner; numbers drawn were 3, 19, 23 and 25. Match-three winner, Maura Carty, Preban. Next week’s jackpot €1,750. Draw held in Saltee on Monday nights.

WHIST DRIVE

There will be a whist drive in Annacuura Community Hall on Saturday night next January 27, starting at 9 p.m.

THRIFTSHOP

New to You Thrift Shop are appealing for donations of saleable goods – bric-a-brac, clothing, small pieces of furniture toys etc. If you have something that you have no further use for but feel it would suit someone else please donate. Art Class is commencing February 1 for eight weeks, Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. to midday in Community Hall. If interested in these classes please book at 087 1334590. Beginners welcome also, you might discover a new talent.

Membership fees due by January 31. Committee members will be in the hall on Fridays at 2 p.m. and after Mass on Sundays to collect fees. The next tea dance is on mothers day March 11 with music by the Wicklow man.

IFA MEETING

A meeting of the County Wicklow IFA Farm Family Committee will take place on Tuesday, January 30, in the Woodenbrid­ge Hotel at 8 p.m.

Our speaker this month is David Malloney, who will speak to us on First Aid in the Farmyard and show us how to deal with some accidents that can occur. Farm safety cannot be over-emphasised and this is a worthwhile evening in alerting people given the accidents that occur every year on farms.We extend a warm welcome to all IFA members and their families. There is a cup of tea or coffee after the meeting where people can have a chat and get to know one another. Why not come along and enjoy the evening.

AVOCA NATIONAL SCHOOL

Avoca National School will be holding an Open Afternoon on Saturday, February 3, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Avoca is a co-educationa­l school, serving a rural community. The school is presently operating single stream classes while retaining the small country school atmosphere.

The school has an excellent choir with participan­ts from Third Class upwards. Sport also features significan­tly in the day to day programme at Avoca National School. This school offers a varied and comprehens­ive list of after-school activities such as football, tin-whistle and French. The school also offers a coding module to all children from Second to Sixth classes.

If your child is ready to start primary school in September 2018 or if you are moving to our local area in the near future, we are more than happy to show you around our fantastic school at a time that suits you. HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Artist in the Community Project – A meeting with Michael Fortune will take place Thursday, February 1, in May Byrne Trust House Coolgreany at 8 p.m., to start work on the Artist in the Community Project. The aim of the project is to create a heritage map of the area/parish. Anyone that may have any informatio­n or artefacts that may be of interest please get in touch and come

Rathdrum RFC presents the first annual Con Cashman memorial table quiz in the Corner House lounge on Friday, January 26, at 8 p.m. €40 per table of four €100 First Prize. There will be lots of Spot Prizes on the night.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

A meeting to organise the St Patrick’s Day parade will take place on Monday, January 29, in the RDA hall at 7.15 p.m. Everyone welcome to attend.
