Funding workshop
THERE WAS a good attendance at Lawless’s Hotel in Aughrim last Wednesday for a workshop on funding opportunities for community groups.
Community orientated organisations from Annacurra, Knockananna, Tinahely, Aughrim, Ballycoog, Arklow and Avoca were all present. Over forty people, all active in their community, took part in a workshop on rural regeneration funding schemes. There was plenty of creative energy in the room, generating a constant flow of ideas for a wide range of projects.
Another workshop takes place in the Glenview Hotel on Thursday, February 8, at 7.30 p.m.. All are welcome to attend. PEOPLE in Wicklow are being urged to support the upcoming Denim Day for Dementia in aid of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
Rugby player Dave Kearney who is an ambassador for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) is encouraging people to take part in the campaign which takes place on Friday, March 9, to help support people living with dementia and their carers.
Now in its second year, the Denim Day for Dementia campaign is asking everyone from around Ireland to wear their denims – to crèche, primary school and secondary school or to their place of work – on the day and donate just €2 to support people living with dementia.
People can order their Denim Day for Dementia pack by registering at alzheimer.ie or by contacting the fundraising team at 01 2073816.
