ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

We have just held our first meeting and the parade will be going ahead this year on March 17, starting from the Lower Street at 12.30 p.m. We are looking for people’s views and ideas for this year’s parade – so if you have any, please let us know or even better if you’d like to join the committee. We’d love to hear from you.

Coolgreany Amateur Dramatic Society is holding a fundraisin­g coffee morning in the May Byrne House in the village from 10 a.m. to midday, on Friday, February 16.

Their next production is a three-act play ‘Death and the Maiden’ which will be performed in Inch Hall from March 1 to March 3, following which the play will be competing on the all-Ireland three-act drama circuit.

FUN AFTERNOON

Come along to Castletown Indoor Arena for a mid-term fun afternnoon, on Wednesday, February 14, from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. All 3rd-6th class pupils are welcome. This fun afternnon is in aid of Castletown/Liam Mellows

The East Leinster Schools Cross country took place in Avondale recently with big numbers in each race. Well done to our club members who took part, qualifying were Ellen Keaney (3rd), Edward Byrne, Dillon Tarmey 10th and Timmy O’Brien. They now qualify for the Leinster on February 21, to be held in Santry. Very good running too from Grace Wakeford, Lily Mulally and Caoimhe Daly O’Brien.

TIDY TOWNS

The next meeting of the Rathdrum Tidy Towns committee will take place on the February 14 at 7 p.m. in the Ann Devlin Annex RDAA clean-up of the river walk will take place next Saturday, February 10, at 9 a.m. All workers to meet at the old Mill in the lower street.
