STRING OF ARRESTS ON THOR ACTION DAY

ARRESTS for a range of offences were made within the Wicklow Garda Division over two days last week as part of Thor Days of Action aimed at cutting down on crime levels.

Operation Thor is the National Anti-Crime Strategy with a particular focus on crime prevention, whilst also targeting gangs or individual­s involved in burglary offences.

Checkpoint­s were establishe­d throughout the Wicklow area, resulting in five people being arrested for on bench warrants. Two more people were arrested on theft charges, including one incident involv- ing a stolen caravan worth €26,000.

One person was arrested for handling stolen property and one arrest was also made for domestic violence. Two people were arrested for burglary.

Five premises were also searched during Thursday and Friday. A MOUNTAIN biker was assisted by of Wicklow’s mountain rescue teams after he sustained a head injury in a fall at the weekend.

At 3.15 p.m. on Saturday, the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to assist the National Ambulance Service (NAS) at an incident in Ticknock.

Mountain rescue personnel assisted an ambulance crew while they treated the male injury victim who was then stretchere­d to a waiting ambulance.

The incident was stood down at 4.34 p.m.

This was the ninth call-out of 2018 for both teams.
