Blessington lads go in search of Leinster joy
THREE Blessington GAA Club footballers will go in search of Leinster Schools ‘A’ glory this weekend when they line out for Naas CBS against Marist Athlone in Tullamore this Saturday.
Conall O Gallchobhair, Ethan Cotter and Jordan McGarr are the Blessington players who will feature on Ronan Joyce’s side as they bid to capture the Bro. Bosco Cup for the first time.
Their journey to the final began with a hard-fought draw against Wexford’s Good Counsel in their opening game, 1-13 to 3-7.
They then took a huge step when defeating St Mary’s SS, Edenderry, on a convincing score of 3-8 to 1-6, to send them through to the last eight of this top Leinster competition.
Facing a team from Knockbeg is never an easy task but a total of 2-12 sent the Blessington lads and their Kildare colleagues through to the semi-final to meet Coláiste Eoin who had taken care of Wexford’s St Peter’s in the other quarter-final.
The ability to score goals proved vital as Naas CBS stormed into the decider by 2-8 to 0-6.
Marist Athlone stand in their way in the final which is fixed for this Saturday, March 10, at 2pm in O’Connor Park, Tullamore.
