The Éire Óg Juvenile Show in all its variety, hurling and football for cailíní and buachaillí, is in the process of taking to the road for the 2018 season. Registrati­ons were to have taken place last week but some had to be postponed. These are now to be held later this week.

Underage training sessions are as follows: Saturday mornings, nursery (u-6): iomáint and peil for girls and boys, really about becoming acquainted with a football and a camán in an exclusivel­y fun environmen­t.

U-7 run likewise in a positive fun-driven atmosphere but including participat­ion in GoGames blitzes.

U-9s training Mondays with inter-club GoGames blitzes on Fridays. Buachaillí hurling and football: u-11 to u-17, each at its own specific time on Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday. Cailíní and adults camógaíoch­t: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Peil u-12 to u-16 Thursdays 6.30, Adults 7.30.

Meanwhile various of our club teams have already been in competitiv­e action in 2018.

Our camógs are involved in Dublin leagues at adult and under-14 levels while our adult and juvenile hurlers and some of our underage footballer­s are entered in Leinster leagues.

The under-15 footballer­s under Maurice Prendergas­t and Peter O’Neill have played three games to date in Leinster and were successful in two of them. The team’s last game, as mentioned previously, was away to O’Rahillys of Louth in Drogheda agus b’fhiú an tairbhe an t-aistear. After an excellent performanc­e they won.

The under-15s were accompanie­d on their journey by the under-13s who were not quite so successful.

However, their mentor, Kevin Healy, was more than happy with the way in which they battled back against the wind from being two goals in arrears shortly after half-time to equality late in the half. They were undone by a last-minute goal. Míle buíochas to the O’Rahillys who proved to be generous hosts.
