WALKWAY COMPLETE

We’re delighted to be able to tell you that the new walkway over the bridge at the breaches is now open and fully functional, allowing an uninterrup­ted walk from Newcastle to Kilcoole/Greystones. Well done Irish Rail (even if it did take four years to make it happen). We also got news that Wicklow County Council is going to grant aid a feasibilit­y study on the developmen­t of a Greenway from Wicklow to Greystones. Get your walking shoes on.

REPAIR CAFE

From April, Newcastle Community Centre are starting up a Repair Cafe, and are looking for skilled knitters, sewers, crocheters, qualified carpenters and electricia­ns, people with computer knowledge, gardeners or handymen/women willing to volunteer some time to help with repairs or share their knowledge to help others in the local community.

ACTIVE AGEING

Newcastle Community Centre wants to launch a 12-week Active Ageing Program on Friday mornings. Developed to promote mobility, flexibilit­y, stability and balance, the aim of the program is to improve the quality of life of older adults, through fun and interactiv­e tailored exercise, irrespecti­ve of ability. €5 per session. BIRDWATCH

On Saturday, March 24, Birdwatch Ireland will be leading an outing to Kilcoole to see the early spring migrants and late winter visitors. Meet at Kilcoole train station car park at 10 a.m.
