-

THREE boat engines were stolen overnight from the boatyard at Wicklow Sailing Club.

The theft was discovered on Sunday morning, March 11.

Whoever was responsible cut through a wire fence in order to gain access.

All three engines were outboard motors and were being stored in the yard. They include a Mariner 40, Suzuki 25 and a Yamaha 15, with a combined cost of around €12,000.

Gardaí are seeking out any CCTV footage from the harbour area and are also appealing for potential witnesses to come forward.

A Garda spokesperson said: ‘If anyone noticed any strange activity in and around Wicklow Sailing Club over recent days then they should contact Wicklow Garda Station on (0404) 67107. If anyone is approached about purchasing any boat engines matching the description of those stolen then they should also contact their nearest Garda Station.’
