MAGIC NIGHT OF FUN

- BRENDAN LAWRENCE

KILTEGAN GAA Club gathered together in Germaine’s in Baltinglass last weekend for their GAA and Camogie Club Social Night that drew over 150 people to celebrate another great year on and off the field.

MC for the evening was the indefatigable Damien ‘Boz’ Byrne and the Wicklow insurance officer assumed the role of interviewer on the night when he fired questions at the special guest on the night, Alan Tierney, of Tierney Talks fame, who had the guests chuckling heartily as he did wickedly accurate impressions of various sporting personalities.

“It was something different,” said Damien, “the crowd loved him”.

Other special guests on the night were Wicklow GAA chairman Martin Fitzgerald and Kiltegan trainer Trevor Doyle.

Presentations were made to the Kiltegan Senior footballers and Junior hurlers while the camogie club had their own presentation following their championship victory in 2017 and Lorcan Byrne was MC for that section of the night.

There were also presentations to Padraig O’Toole who scooped the Junior Hurler of the Year award at the Wicklow GAA awards in January, and a Lifetime Supporter award was presented to the deserving Jimmy Simpson who received quite a shock when his name was called.

“I’d like to thank the people in the club who have helped out with teams, and to all the management teams and the people who sell lotto tickets, I would like to thank them as well,” said Damien Byrne. Jimmy Simpson was awarded the Lifetime Supporter award and is pictured here with his family.
