Athy No Match For Inform Rathcoffey - The Athy team’s long journey to the Rathcoffey GAA hall to fulfil their Rd.14 Division 2 bowling league fixture against Rathcoffey wasn’t a very fruitful undertaking as the came up against an inform home side.

Athy up to now have had mixed fortunes in their games mostly due to their inconsistent performances. A very difficult side to beat when they hit their true form, but one never knows which team will turn up and that must be very frustrating for the players themselves.

There have been some games where they were ranked the complete outsiders and confounded the critics by producing stunning displays to take the full complement of points.

Then again when they were favourites and expected to come away with the majority of points they failed to produce the goods, whether they had home advantage or not.

Coming up against Rathcoffey who have been hitting the high notes in their recent matches and having the advantage of the home venue would not make their task an easy one by any manner or means.

Not withstanding those facts it was believed they would still manage to secure a couple of points.

This was not to be, because from the start of the match to the finish the home side completely dominated the game and were never in any danger at any time. This was one of those matches that Athy failed to make any impact and subsequently were comprehensively beaten.

With the exception of Prosperous who linger at the bottom of the table and look doomed for relegation Athy are in the mix with three other teams with a similar number of points with the prospect of a similar fate.

The five points gained by the home side moves them up just above mid-table, but are still not quite safe yet, especially having to face tough opposition in their remaining four games.
