GOLF SOCIETY OUTING

Thankfully Easter Saturday turned into a nice dry day despite the early Easter Weekend warnings and the first outing of the Plucks Golf Society finally went ahead. Played on the scenic West Course in Powerscourt, the wet underfoot conditions had no effect on Tom Byrne, who shot a very impressive 37 points to capture first prize. In second Place was Eddie Byrne (35 points) and in third was new member Cian Bermingham (35 points). The three Category Winners were Category 1; Mark Quinn (34 points), Category 2; John Lyster (35 points) and Category 3; Brendan Finnerty (31 points). The Front nine winner was Mick Holly (18 points) with Liam Finnerty taking the Back Nine nine Prize (16 points). Nearest the pin’s winners were Peter Reddin (17th) and Colm Mulligan (sixth) while the longest drive was hit by Mark Quinn.

The members would once again like to thank Helen and Nick of Plucks for the members goody bags on the day and sponsoring some of the prizes and remind you all, the next outing will take place in Courttown GC on Saturday, April 14, with a 11.30 Tee off time and names must be in by this Sunday (eighth) for the draw.

MUSIC IN CALARY

No Soccer action last week but the break did give one keen athlete from our village a chance to focus on the task ahead this weekend. The Wicklow and District Schoolboys/Girls’ Soccer League are hosting ‘The Cube’ in the Parkview Hotel this Saturday and Seán Kavanagh has kindly offered (Told by Prendo) to represent Glencormac United FC. All at the club would like to thank Seán and wish him the very best of luck (and to all the contestants). Doors open this Saturday at 7.15 p.m. in the Parkview if you would like to go down to support ‘Our Kavo’ who is pictured getting himself fired up for the competition.
