Garda Band sing for the De La Salle Centre
THE GARDA Band entertained a large crowd in St Patrick’s Church on Sunday night, playing an array of popular hit songs.
The event was organised by David Earls and acted as a fundraiser for the De La Salle Pastoral Centre.
Old favourites such as ‘YMCA’ and Glen Miller’s ‘In the Mood’ proved particularly popular with the receptive audience. The Brittas Bay Singers also performed during the interval.
David was delighted with the reception the Garda Band received.
‘We had a great turn out and I couldn’t actually believe the amount of people who turned up. It was a great night. I have to thank the Garda Band for coming to the venue. It was also wonderful to gave the Brittas Bay Singers involved during the interval.
‘I have so many people to thank for lending me assistance. Ailish Whelan and the staff of the pastoral centre provided lovely meals to all the Garda Band members. They were wonderful. Fr Donal Roche was of great assistance so I have to thank him as well. Other people who played a vital role in organising everything were Debbie Hanlon, Joe Hanlon and Geraldine Egan. It was a brilliant night and we are still counting up all the money the concert raised.’
