STEAM TRAIN BRINGS A BUZZ
IT WAS full steam ahead on Easter Monday as the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland brought the steam train experience to Wicklow town.
Wicklow residents of all ages seemed to relish the chance to see the old-fashioned train in operation and cameras and phones were at the ready as a train carrying 250 passengers from Connolly Station rolled into the town shortly after noon.
These guests enjoyed an afternoon strolling around the seaside town, enjoying some shopping, lunch and sight-seeing, before heading back towards the capital shortly after 4.30 p.m.
However, a number of locals were also able to enjoy a step back in time thanks to two shuttle services which left Wicklow town – one heading north to Greystones and the second heading south to Arklow – before arriving back later in the afternoon.
