Woman fractures ankle walking on the Spinc

-

A WOMAN out walking with friends on Easter Monday was rescued by mountain rescue personnel after she suffered a suspected fractured ankle.

At 3.47 p.m., both the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by gardai to assist the hillwalker, who hurt herself when she fell on the Spinc trail in Glendalough.

The teams managed to reach the scene within 30 minutes and a medic assessed the woman’s injuries before she was carried, in a stretcher, down the steps from the Spinc to a waiting mountain rescue vehicle.

The walker was brought to the National Park Information Office, transferred to an ambulance and brought on to hospital.

The incident was stood down at 6.15 p.m.
