Temple Street charity run

-

There will be a one-day festival of running in the grounds of Avondale House and Forest Park on Saturday, April 14, in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

The festival, which is being organised by the Wicklow Hospice Crew, will consist of a choice of five distances: five, ten, 15 and 20 miles of a full marathon. Places are limited to 200 people.

Online entry costs €25 and is open at www.sportszone.ie or will cost €30 on the day, provided there are spaces available.

Walkers are more than welcome and there is a specially struck medal for the 200 participants. Spring Clean initiative, the plan is to have a major clean up on all the highways and byways of the area. Rresidents are encouraged to head out their gates, pick any litter between their house and the next, then pass on the refuse sack to the next able bodied neighbour until the last resident or representative of the road hits Roundwood village, where all the bags will be collected and brought for recycling or to landfill.

If someone can’t do April 14, any time this month is fine. Where practical, residents are asked to put all plastics, glass and other recyclables in the one bag. All volunteers are asked to wear a hi-vis jacket for safety on the road.

There was a great response from the community of Roundwood and Moneystown to this initiative in 2016.
