FIRST RESPONDERS

It is with Great Pleasure that Aughrim Community First Responders can announce Aughrim’s third Public Access Defibrillator. The new unit is located at Aughrim National School beside the main entrance.

The Purchase of the AED and Cabinet would not have been possible without the hard work of the Aughrim National Schools parents’ association. They raised every cent needed to purchase this equipment. They and the School have agreed to make it available for our community to use if needed. So a huge thanks to all involved for that.

We would like to thank Kevin Forsyth and his son for their work installing the cabinet for us. They drove from Sallynoggin on a wet Bank Holiday Monday morning to do this work free of charge for the community. We are extremely grateful for this.

The locations of our three Public Access Defibrillators are: – Aughrim Credit Union, Main Street. – Aughrim National School, Main Street. – Sports Complex, Andy Allen Park. Aughrim Community First Responders are on call 24/7 to respond to our community when they need us. It is through the generous donations and support of our community that we are able to keep our life saving group going.

GAA CLUB NOTES

Our adult team had a well deserved win against a useful Lacken/Kilbride team last Saturday on a score line of 1-11 to 0-10. It was a keenly contested game and both sides were guilty of a good number of wides in both halves. We started well and were soon three points ahead before Lacken/Kilbride got on the board but it was not long before it was level. We were ahead at halftime and when Peo Kavanagh finished a good move to the net early in the second half we managed to keep a margin of four points between the teams to the end. Overall an encouraging team performance and we look forward to our next game away to Enniskerry next Saturday, please come along and support.

Items to be included in the Aughrim notes should be emailed to aughrimnotes@eircom.net before 8 p.m. on Sundays. Do not send attachments.

Following a break for a few weeks to allow existing members to attend training courses in governance and to source appropriate insurance cover the Men’s Shed Avoca is back having regular meetings. These take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the old railway station in the golf club car park at Woodenbridge, courtesy of the Golf Club.

Anybody wishing to find out more about us should come down next Tuesday when we gather for a cup of tea and a chat. We are anxious to recruit new members and expand our range of activities. This is also an opportunity for members to bring forward new ideas and projects which might be of interest to the group.

Current plans are for more cookery lessons and to make more ‘Buddy Benches’ for local organisations. We also want to tidy up around the railway station and possibly do some minor renovations on the building if there is sufficient interest among the members.

Enquiries about any aspect of the Shed can be made to any member or to our treasurer Pat Cronin (087 2328528) or chairman Victor O’Shaughnessy (087 9448821)
