FOOTBALL CLUB NOTES

Our division two team travelled to Knockananna on Sunday morning with almost a full squad. Unfortunately the locals could only muster 13 so we played 13-a-side. The rule made by the GAA a few years ago that young fellas cannot play adult football is going a good way to getting rid of small rural clubs. We were affected ourselves in our away game to Newtown. It is time that the people in power talked to the small clubs for a change.

Our lads led 3-6 to 0-1 at half time and 3-10 to 0-4 when the full time whistle sounded.

Our team was: M Moore, K Osbourne, j Whyte (0-1), C Kelly, W Rooney, N Curran, H Mangan (0-1), B Lennon (0-2), D O’Neill (0-3), A Daly (1-3), D Daly (1-1), O’Adler (1-0). Subs used were: C O’Neill, A Tutty, and M Daly.

The lotto jackpot is now €10,900. Last week Gerry and Me (Ballymanus) and Sue Toomey matched three and won €100 each.

Well done too, to Alana Stewart Fleming, who did the club proud when she won bronze for her recitation.
