CHARITY CYCLE

Well done to local men Chris Heywood and Ivan Doyle, who raised money for two charities by cycling to the Merseyside Derby in time for kick-off last Saturday morning.

Ivan is from Kilcroney and Chris is that lovable Scouser that we have adopted here in Kilmacanogue these past 20 years. Ivan is a big Liverpool supporter while Chris loves the Blue side of Merseyside which is Everton so no better place to finish the charity cycle than at Goodison Park last Saturday for the derby game.

Chris is a barman in Brady’s of Shankill and all their efforts will benefit two very local charities in St Joseph’s Shankill and Shankill Old Folks Association. Between online sponsorship and sponsor cards, just over €5,000 has been raised.

The lads set off from Brady’s on Friday morning, got the Ferry over from Dublin and then cycled to Merseyside along with Mark Braid, who came down from Liverpool. Luckily all went well including the result of the match which finished 0-0 so no falling out after the game. Well done Chris and Ivan.

A big thank you also to the Support Car Driver Eddie Livingstone assisted by Odhran Doyle and Róisín Heywood with over 230km covered.
