Wins for Colaiste Bhride teams
Supers 7s
The first year Super 7s in boys football and camogie took place in Ballinakill on Wednesday.
Nine teams took part in the football and five teams in the camogie.
In the football Colaiste Bhride Carnew, Gaelcholaiste na Mara Arklow and two teams from Scoil Chonglais Baltinglass qualified for the semi-finals.
Gaelcholaiste na Mara defeated one Scoil Chonglais team to reach the final and Colaiste Bhride just got the better of the other Chonglais team by 5-5 to 4-7.
The physically stronger Colaiste Bhride team were victorious in the final by 4-4 to 1-5.
The winning captain Tim Ivers was presented with the trophy by Darren Hayden.
In the camogie two teams from Colaiste Bhride qualified for the final.
In a high class contest the team captained by Sarah Doyle was victorious and she was presented with the trophy by Philip Campion.
Boys football
In the boys junior football A championship the two semi-finals were played with Colaiste Bhride Carnew and St Kevin’s CC Dunlavin qualifying for the final.
St Kevin’s got the better of Avondale CC on a 4-16 to 0-6 scoreline while Colaiste Bhride overcame Temple Carrig School Greystones by 4-10 to 3-8.
In the juvenile hurling B semi final qualified to meet Arklow Schools in the final with an 8-7 to 1-2 win over Colaiste Chill Mhantain
Into Leinster final
The Colaiste Bride under-16 hurling team progressed to the Leinster final after a fantastic display against a very strong and fit Maynooth PP team. CB travelled to Bray on Friday morning as underdogs and knew that this game would go right to the wire. CB started the game well and an early goal from full forward Joe Conroy gave CB a hard-fought lead, following brilliant work from James McGing and young second year, Stephen Kenny. A long range Conor Hughes free was one of the highlights of a great first half, CB leading 1-6 to 0-05 at half time. A brilliant defensive effort from CB had kept Maynooth’s chances to a minimum, with a particularly strong display from centre back Tom Mordaunt. Maynooth started the second half strongly and CB were under massive pressure with 15 minutes to go, chasing the game and time running out. Yet again, however, this group showed what they’re made of when it really mattered. Owen Young nailed a couple of late frees, Conor Hughes got one from distance and Tom Mordaunt got a great score on the run to put CB ahead again. Despite a late late scare from a 21 yard free, CB managed to cling on and progress to a Leinster final against Rochfortbridge. An absolutely absorbing game that could have gone either way. CB will now have a Hurling team in a Leinster final. A brilliant day for Hurling in the school! A fantastic team performance, with all players giving their absolute all.
