News from the Kenya family after the horrific monsoon rains have caused such floods leaving death and destruction all over Kenya. Their unfinished home that the club is helping to build was flooded but no loss of life, as there is no roof yet on the building. The two children who the club pays school fees for continue to achieve excellent results. Rita is top of her year in all subjects and Edwin is now in his second year at University in Kericho reading Computer Science.
There are seven more weeks before the club takes a two month summer break for July and August. There is a welcome for any players from other clubs that may have taken holidays early and the hour free revision session from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. before the usual club competition will continue till the end of June when as our traditional closing party night will end this year on Wednesday, June 27. GARDAI believe that three incidents of thefts from cars at the Murrough on the same day are all linked.
Two of the thefts occurred at the recycling centre located at the popular coastal spot.
On Tuesday, May 8, a woman using the facilities at the centre returned to her vehicle to find that her handbag had been stolen. No damage had been caused to the car. The handbag contained a large sum of money, as well as a phone, personal documents and credit cards. The theft occurred at around 9.30 a.m. in the morning.
Gardaí arrived at the scene to examine CCTV footage when it was discovered that a second car had also been illegally entered. Another woman who had been present at the recycling centre at the same time as the first incident, had returned home to find that her purse had been stolen.
Later that afternoon, the owner of a car parked further along the Murrough had a wallet stolen from inside the vehicle. The owner had gone for a walk between noon and 1 p.m. and only discovered the wallet was missing after returning to the vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry.
Anyone who could assist the gardaí with their investigation should contact Wicklow Garda Station on (0404) 67107.
