St David’s secure ‘B’ shield
Katie Lawless bags 4-2 against gallant Kilcoole side

THE girls Senior B Shield final between St Davids and Chraobh Abhann was played in Kilcoole in pleasant sunshine last week.
A first-minute score by star forward Katie Lawless of St David’s was the first of fifteen goals from two attack conscious teams.
The play went quickly up and down the field regularly and both teams were a credit to their schools.
At one stage near the end of the first half St David’s led by 5-3 to 1-2 but the battling Kilcoole team added two goals to leave the score at half time 5-3 to 3-2 in favour of the Greystones school.
The second half was equally entertaining with St David’s again starting the better adding the first five points.
However, Chraobh Abhann hit two goals in quick succession by Rachel Carty and Kerryann Hamilton between the 12th and 14th minutes to narrow the gap.
St David’s continued to kick fine points to increase their lead.
Chraobh Abhann added a goal from a penalty by Hamilton and a late goal by Lara Harrison but St David’s regained their goal scoring touch in the final quarter with fine scores from Katie Lawless (2) and Ellie O’Neill to seal a convincing win.
