ART WITH LAR

Lar Griffin, renowned local artist is continuing his long association with Coláiste Eoin by working with the students on a series of art components sponsored by the ETB.

Previously Lar worked on a creative engagement project supported by the NAPD and produced some magical mythical murals for the school. The epic work of the past is replaced by butterflies which will adorn the school representing not only the creativity of the students but also their voyage in school. Butterflies fill our world with beauty and are representative of the vitality the students bring to our school. The metamorphosis undergone by caterpillars to butterflies is also truly reflective of the changes we see from teenagers to adults.

Miss Hunt the art teacher has also engaged the students in some creative expression and a piece in development from last year will soon be launched. The students along with Miss Hunt have hand decorated the tiles with the theme of, ‘Spread Your Wings and Soar’. Both pieces will soon be unveiled to the entire school community.

MY TRANSITION YEAR

Written by Grace Hurly, Transition Year Student:

I took part in Runamuck which involved 5: 5km of obstacles which really pushed us to our physical limits. We all faced our fear of heights in the High Rope course in Bray and the Climbing Wall in UCD.

We had an amazing week in Killary; Galway where we took part in a lot of different activities such as orienteering, the Ringo Ride, Gorge Walking, the Big Swing, the Freefall, Archery, Canoeing and the Turf Challenge.

Trips to Dublin, Ice Skating, ‘Spamalot’, JumpZone and the Cinema were just a few of the Year’s highlights.

TY year was a great year because new friendships were forged, old friendships solidified and bonds between students and teachers strengthened. TY was fun. I loved it. Best year ever. test everyone’s knowledge of the European Union, history, geography and culture of Europe. Well done to all our prize winners and to everybody who made the event a great success.
