SCIFEST SUCCESS

Congratulations to our Transition Year award winning SciFest competitors. A total of 11 projects were selected for exhibit at the Regional Finals in Waterford IT where the girls won a total of five prizes.

Over 200 students exhibited in excess of 100 projects at SciFest. Well done to Katie Garrett (Best Communicator), Janet Oshun Williams and Alexandra Gramiak (Runner-up Best Project Overall), Alaidh Kavanagh and Anna Keating (Best Intermediate project), Alice Keenan and Aoife McBride (Merit Award), Alanna Collier and Megan Smale (maths in Science Award) and to their teacher Joanne English for working tirelessly with the students on both their SciFest and BT Young Scientist projects this year.

EUROPE DAY

Well done to all of our students who participated in the Darkness into Light event on May 12 A large contingent of students and teachers took part in the 10th Anniversary walk in Arklow, a fundraiser for Pieta House to help them in their mission to prevent suicide and self harm. Many thanks to Valerie Power, Aislinn Cullen, Joanne Stapleton and Aisling Molloy for their efforts in accompanying and training the students for the event. The girls really enjoyed the experience and getting involved in such a worthwhile cause.

JUNIOR CAMOGIE

Hard luck to our junior camogie team, who were narrowly beaten in the final of their division in a Sunny Portlaoise. The girls did themselves and St Mary’s proud with their fight and determination. They lost out to a good Kilkenny team in the end. Well done to Tegan Doyle, who scored an impressive seven goals on the day.
