COMMUNITY GAMES

Community Games is picking up momentum as we come into the busy season. Next weekend is the first weekend of the Aldi National Community Games festival in UL Limerick and we have seven children traveling with their parents to take part. Jamie Shannon in art. Elliott O’Driscoll in Swimming. Louis Connell in solo singing. Sarah Doyle and Isabella Doyle in cross country and Padraic Doyle and Caolin Goetelan in the marathon. Good luck to all of them and enjoy the experience.

The County Wicklow Track and Field Athletic Finals take place on Saturday, June 16, in Shillelagh and we have over 60 children participat­ing. It’s important that all children continue to train every Monday evening at 7 p.m.

The Annacurra Parish field day will take place on Sunday, June 17, at 2 p.m. in the GAA pitch. We hope to have all the usual attraction­s, stalls and events.

If those who help running the field day would get in touch with Fr Sheridan or a member of the parish council in the next few weeks. New volunteers are always welcome and would be very much appreciate­d. Tickets on sale shortly.

FOOTBALL CLUB NOTES

Our Division 2 team had a big win over Barndarrig away on Tuesday last. This was our last game in the league but unfortunat­ely we missed promotion by a few points. Still it was a good competitio­n and we finished in the top half. Our team on the night was: C Toomey, a Tutty, Joe Whyte, K Osbourne, Ger Healy, H Mangan, E Kelly, Colm Osbourne, J Hanbidge, B Lennon, L Mullen, R Halloran, Alan and Dermot and L Daly. Subs were Mick Daly and Shane Eager. Alan Daly was top scorer (1-10).

This week we play Kiltegan in a friendly game on Tuesday in Donard and travel to Stratford on Thursday for a division four game. On Friday we play Valleymoun­t in a Cup game in Donard.

No lotto winner but the following matched three and won €25 each:Eddie and Helen Eager, Dermot Daly, Tara Case, Caroline Byrne, Michael Byrne, James Ivers, Enda Walshe, Bill Flynn Snr. and harry Pender. The jackpot is now €12,700. Helen Eager won the seller’s prize.

The annual Maureen Dennis set dance ceili will take place in the Imaal Hall on June 15 at 9.30 p.m. Admission €10. All proceeds will go to St Bridgid’s Hospice, Curragh. Craft Fair

The annual festival of arts craft fair takes place in the Imaal Hall on Sunday, June 17, There are a few places left. If interested please contact Emma Lucy at 086 3454079.

RACE NIGHT

A race night in aid of Anthony Doran (son of Kathleen and Tommy Doran) will be held in Burkes pub on May 25 from 9 p.m. Horses are on sale at €10 from Bridgid Joyce, Jimmy Whittle or the parish office. Please support.

GOLF CLASSIC

FORUM

It has come to the time of year for our annual general meeting. Dunlavin and District Forum plays an instrument­al part in the fabric of our community and we strive to bring improvemen­ts to our community and build upon the great work previously done.

FESTIVAL OF ARTS

The next meeting will take place in Seomra in the Imaal Hall Saturday, May 18, at 12, 30. This year’s festival takes place on June 15 to June 17. The festival will be officially opened by popular horse trainer Jessica Harrington.

IMAAL HALL AGM

The AGM of the Imaal Hall takes place on May 31 at 8 p.m. in the hall. Please suppoert this as the hall is a great facility to have.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

Next Farmers Market will take place on June 9 at 10 a.m. Great selection of home made and home grown produce.

BREASTFEED­ING SUPPORT

SLOW SESSION

CAMPHILL FARM SHOP

The Camphill Farm shop opens every Thursday in Grangebeg from 1 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. lots of fresh organic vegetables and eggs for sale.

LINEDANCIN­G

Line Dancing continues in the Imaal Hall on Wednesdays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at a cost of only €6. Beginners are welcome, so come along and join the craic.

CLINIC

TD John Brady will hold a clinic in Dunlavin parish centre on the second Monday of each month from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. All welcome to drop in.

USED POSTAGE STAMPS

Please keep your used postage stamps for St Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan, who can use them to fundraise. Used stamps can be dropped into the parish office any time. Thank you to all who have donated stamps throughout the past year.

REGISTER OF ELECTIONS

And another month is gone and so it is time for the next car boot sale in Knockanann­a Hall on Saturday, May 26. The hall will be open from 8 a.m. to allow people to setup. A pitch costs €10. Thanks to everyone who had donated to the Tidy Towns stall, we are expecting brisk business. Remember if you do not want to buy or sell, still join us for a cuppa and a chat with the neighbours.

KNOCKANANN­A TIDY TOWNS

With the bad weather, the Knockanann­a Tidy Towns are struggling to get all the necessary work done on time. Remember judging usually occurs at the beginning of June. We meet on a Monday evening at 7 p.m. for one hour, and many hands would make light work.

We need to prepare flower beds, paint containers, repair seat at the cross roads, pick litter, clean road signs and catch up on work like mowing, sweeping the street and strimming that does not get completed by our CE men. If Monday night does not suit you, please contact Esther or Kathleen, who would be delighted to share out some of the tasks.

TINAHELY WALKING CLUB

Sundays walk, May 27 is at Annagh Hill. Grade B, 9km, three hours. Meeting at the Gap carpark at 10.30 a.m. On Sunday, June 3, walk is at Ballinaman­ogue. Grade B, 13km, 3.5 hours meeting in Tinahely at 10.30 a.m. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food and drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.
