Water Buffalo in Wexford!!
Based near the picturesque village of Ballygarrett, Macamore Buffalo is one of only three Buffalo farms in Ireland. This family run, fourth generation farm specialises in producing the unique and pure taste of Buffalo meat. The farm is managed by Liam & Sinead Byrne. The name Macamore Buffalo comes from the type of soil that is unique to this part of Wexford, and is known locally as ‘’The Macamores’’.
The nutritional and health benefit of eating Water buffalo meat really impressed the Byrnes and they decided to import a herd with a view to bringing this unique offering to the Irish consumer. Buffalo meat is high in protein & iron whilst being low in fat and cholesterol.
Product Description Macamore Buffalo offers the full range of all your favourite meat cuts. From hearty sage and onion dinner sausages to their famous 6oz ‘’nothing but the meat’’ burgers. They also provide T-bone steaks, ground mince, steak pieces, sirloin, striploin, rib eye and fillet steak. Roasts are also available and for the real meat lover in your life…. you have to try the Macamore Buffalo 16oz Tomahawk steak.
Macamore Buffalo is available in several eateries in Dublin and along the east coast. In April 2018, the Byrne’s opened a new purpose built cold room and farm shop, where customers can purchase fresh buffalo meat in the true ‘’farm to fork’’ spirit. They are also members of the Wexford Food Family, Good Food Ireland and have entered into this years Glass Na Heireann as well as being short listed the 2018 Wexford Chamber of Commerce Business awards.
