All club golfers note a date for your dairy: The annual St Patrick’s GAA Golf Classic is booked for next Saturday, June 16, in Wicklow Golf Club.

St Patricks GAA Club fundraiser tickets are now been distribute­d. One ticket for three draws in June, July and August.

Prizes each month: 1st prize €1,000, 2nd €700, 3rd €400, 4th €200, 5th €100, 6th €50 and 7th €50.

Fresh from their victory over Meath our unbeaten Wicklow ladies will take on Longford on Sunday, June 17, at 2pm in the Leinster Intermedia­te Championsh­ip semi-final at a Longford venue.

This is a huge stepping stone for Wicklow and the girls are in need of all our voices so let’s get organising to support our county team especially our own Niamh McGettigan, Rose Fagan, Saoirse O’Reilly and Mick Kavanagh (management team).

Hard Luck to our county hurlers in the Christy Ring semi-final against London on Saturday in Netwatch Cullen Park, especially our own Andy O’Brien, George O’Brien, John Connors, Christy Moorehouse (Jnr) and Gerry Connors with a final score of London 2-24, Wicklow 2-14.

It was not to be for the county footballer­s who welcomed Cavan to Joule Park, Aughrim in the first round of the qualifiers on Saturday with the full-time score Wicklow 1-05, Cavan 2-16. Hard luck to all involved especially our own Dean Healy, Johnny Crowe and Conor Ffrench.

Big thank you to Tinahely GAA Club and Jackie Kinch for inviting us to take part in the Ellen Kinch Cup. What a day, couldn’t have asked for better and all for a great cause: Barretstow­n. Congratula­tions to Rebecca Hollingswo­rth on receiving player of the tournament.

Both panels met in the semi-final with the seniors progressin­g to the final to complete with the host club. An entertaini­ng game saw Tinahely prevail by three points.

Well done to managers Robert Hollingswo­rth and Lee Watters and all the players of the senior and intermedia­te panels on a super day of football in support of the worthy fundraiser the Ellen Kinch Cup.

Well done to the Wicklow GYW Referees especially St. Pat’s girls Siobhan Gorman, Sarah Carroll, Amy Kavanagh and Emer McNulty officiatin­g at their first games in the blitz in Rathnew on Saturday. 46 games were played.
