FIELD DAY

We hope that you will come out next Sunday and support the field day. There will be a variety of stalls and amusements, including the Bouncy Castle, the Duck Races, Races for children, the Wellie Toss, a Penalty Shoot, along with a Barbecue, Ice Cream and stalls with Plants, Bottles, cakes and bric-à-brac, and lots more.

Would you be willing to volunteer to help at the stalls? If you would you be willing to provide any or some of the following: Plants, cakes, bric-à-brac/Jumble, then get in touch.

There will be a whist drive in Annacurra Community Hall on Saturday night next June 16 starting at 9 p.m.

COMMUNITY GAMES

County Wicklow Track and Field finals will take place next Saturday, June 16, in Shillelagh. Please gather for the parade from 9 a.m. collecting singlet and label of your coaches. Please wear white t shirt with dark shorts. Bring plenty of water, sun cream (we hope) and a picnic. The first place winners from the athletic finals will qualify for the Aldi National Festival in August 17 to August 19 in UL Limerick.

We would like to wish our young athlete Kevin Moran all the best in the National Special Olympic Finals in Dublin next weekend.

LADIES DAY OUT

Tickets are now on sale for the Ladies Day in the Woodenbrid­ge Hotel on July 1, with glass of prosecco and afternoon tea, fashion shows by McMullans and Fayebella, make-up demonstrat­ions by Beauty by Nicola and Catherina Aylward, hair demonstrat­ions by Bernie from the Cutting Room, stylist corner, pop up beauty salon from midday to 2 p.m., main event from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., prizes for Best Dressed Lady, spot prizes and raffle.

This is a great day out, but you must pre-book, tickets cost €30 and are available from Veronica Carr, Linda Hannay, Niamh Armstrong, Fainche Murphy, Sara Horan Byrne and Denise Byrne. All proceed to Annacurra Community Playground Committee.

GAA NEWS

Our adult team had a convincing win in the Division 3 league last week defeating Newcastle on 1-17 to 1-7 score line. This was a good team performanc­e and the game was played in a sporting and positive manner by both sides in front of a good home crowd.

Our next outing is away to Hollywood on Tuesday evening 12th at 8 p.m. and our next home game is against Eire O’g on Tuesday the 19th at 8 p.m.

Congratula­tions to the Aughrim/Annacurra camogie Féile Team, who won out the under-14 Regional Féile in Monaghan last weekend. This was a great achievemen­t by a dedicated group of young players. Field day.

This year’s field day will be held in the GAA pitch on Sunday, June 17.All the usual attraction­s will be there including Juvenile matches, children’s races etc. something for everyone.

LOTTO

on Monday last, June 4, Matchthree winners were Des Burton, Dermot Leeson c/o BB and May O’Brien. The jackpot was won by Johnny Dunne. The jackpot is €1,500.

CEMETERY MASSES

The annual Mass and blessing of the graves in Askinagap will take place on Sunday, June 24, at 2.00.pm.

The annual Cemetery Masses and blessing of the graves will take place as follows: Upper Macreddin Cemetery, Monday, July 16. Lower Macreddin Tuesday, July 17, and Rosahane Wednesday, July 18, All Masses are at 8.00.p.m.

SUMMERTIME YOGA

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Aughrim and district active retirement group celebrated their 10th anniversar­y with a garden party last week. Many thanks to Paddy O’Toole for allowing us the use of the magical Ballybeg House for the occasion. Our members entered into the spirit of the Victorian theme by dressing in the style of the period. Many of the fabulous outfits were purchased in the vintage section of the New to You shop. The delicious food was supplied by Orla’s kitchen and Mary Graham provided the music and craic. A great day was enjoyed by all. Yoga will continue on Tuesdays till June 19.

We are holding our annual golf classic on Sunday, July 1, in the Woodenbrid­ge Golf Club in aid of the pitch developmen­t fund at Avoca NS We would be grateful for any support that your company could give us in relation to fundraisin­g.By contributi­ng you will also be receiving free advertisin­g and positive public relations in the community. EXAMS TIME

The local community would like to wish all our local students who are sitting their junior or Leaving Exams in the coming weeks every success and good results in their respective examinatio­ns and hopefully receive enough points to extend their further education in the years ahead. Coffee morning.

The coffee morning held recently in aid of the Alzheimers Society was a great success, with a grand total of €1,470 being raised. All money raised will go directly towards the running costs of local Alzheimer Services. A massive thank you to everyone who helped out on the day, and to all those who donated cakes, raffle prizes and plants. Your continued support and generosity is very much appreciate­d.
