WEXFORD AMBASSADOR
Eamonn Sinnott, a man with very close family connections with Coolgreany Village (his mother was Kathleen O’Rafferty, sister of the late Vincent and Benny of O’Rafferty’s Pub) was conferred as a Wexford Ambassador in the Gorey Hatch Lab on Friday, June 11.
Eamonn is a Vice President of Intel’s Technology and Manufacturing Group, the General Manager of Intel Ireland. Well done, Eamonn.
SYMPATHY
The local community extend their deepest sympathy to Marion Whelan, Knockgreany and Ester O’Brien, Woodenbridge Hotel on the recent death of their brother Eamonn Byrne, Ballycoogue, whose burial took place in Ballycoogue Cemetery after Mass in the local church on last Thursday.
MID-SUMMER BARBECUE
The Mid-summer barbecue will be held on Saturday, June 23, at 7.30 p.m. at the picnic area op- posite O’Rafferty’s Pub.
ALZHEIMERS COFFEE
The coffee morning held recently in aid of the Alzheimers Society was a great success, with a grand total of €1,470 being raised.
All money raised will go directly towards the running costs of local Alzheimer Services. A massive thank you to everyone who helped out on the day, and to all those who donated cakes, raffle prizes and plants.
Your continued support and generosity is very much appreciated.
TIDY TOWNS
The local community are making a very big effort to clean all roads around the village in preparation for the Tidy Towns Competitions Judging which will start around early June.
It is with all the local support that better results can be achieved when the adjudication is completed, and the committee are appealing for more help to keep the work going, and for all householders to make a big effort in front of their own homes over the next number of weeks.
2K CLEAN-UP
Congratulations to Maureen Kelly, who received a Gold Star for her efforts with the local 2K Clean-Up for the village.
Congratulations also to Marian Byrne, who received a Gold Star for her great work in the Croghan View area with the 2K Clean-Up.
DUBLINMARATHON
Congratulations to Alice Gardiner, Vera Grogan, and Betty Russell, who raised €735 for Arklow Cancer Support for their efforts in the Dublin City Marathon.
HANDBALL LOTTO
Coolgreany Handball lotto now stands at €5,600, lotto tickets are available in Jim Short’s, Coolgreany post office, O’Rafferty’s. and Liam Clare Snr. A new prize format is now in place, with seven lucky dips worth €30 each and one Seller’s prize.
