AGB and Éire Óg to clash
WITHOUT a shadow of a doubt the standout performers in Division 1A of the football leagues have been the men of Tinahely.
With seven wins from seven games, Alan Costello’s men have rode roughshod over their opposition in this division with maximum points return and a 116-point scoring tally from their seven league games not to mention their 100 per cent winning record in the play-offs providing ample evidence that they are there on merit.
Tinahely await the winners of AGB and Éire Óg, a game fixed for Wednesday evening (today) with Kieron Kenny in the middle.
Whoever wins that game will go on to face the Tinahely men but a draw will see socre difference come into play.
At the other end of the table, things are not so clearcut.
Rathnew have made the drop to Division 2 after a disastrous league campaign.
Annacurra will play the Villagers today (Wednesday) in Annacurra knowing that a win will see them safe in Division 1A.
However, there is major uncertaintly in relation to the other team to drop to Division 2 shold Annacurra beat Rathnew.
The uncertaintly relates to the game between Coolkenno and Kilmacanogue which was not played and reported to have been a walk-over to Coolkenno.
If that is the case, Kilmacanogue are gone. If that’s not the case then things start to get interesting.
